7.3.1. Translation

This tab of the general settings contain settings related to automatic content translation. The plugin is able to translate all Transformable Fields. Which fields should be translated can be selected in Translatable Fields setting.

7.3.1.1. Translation is active?

Checking the checkbox of this setting means that translation is active for the sites whose Active for post translation? setting is enabled.

Note

For the automatic translation to be activated, both this setting and Active for post translation? setting should be enabled.

Note

When the translation is enabled, crawling the posts will take longer because the plugin will make one or more requests to the API service to retrieve the translations.

7.3.1.2. Translate with

Select a translation service for the plugin to use to translate the posts. When you select a translation service, its settings will be made visible.

Note

For the texts to be successfully translated, you should select a translation service and configure its settings.

7.3.1.3. Translate from

Select the language of the text to be translated.

Note

If the languages are not shown, click Load languages button so that the plugin retrieves available languages from the API. For this button to work, the API settings should already be configured.

Important

You can also select detect option if the post content comes in many languages. If the post content comes in a single language, it is recommended that you select that language because APIs might charge more money to detect the language of the text.

7.3.1.4. Translate to

Select the target language which the texts should be translate into.

Note

If the languages are not shown, click Load languages button so that the plugin retrieves available languages from the API. For this button to work, the API settings should already be configured.

7.3.1.5. Refresh languages

When clicked, this button retrieves a fresh list of available languages from the API. If the API starts supporting new languages and you want to use them, click this button to retrieve those languages from the API.

Note

This button is visible only if there are languages available in Translate from and Translate to settings. If the button is not visible although there are languages shown in these settings, simply refresh the page to make it visible.

7.3.1.6. Clear languages

When clicked, this button removes the languages existing in Translate from and Translate to settings. You can use this button if you somehow want to clear the languages.

Note

In case that you want to retrieve the languages from the API after clearing the languages, you can use Load languages button available in Translate from and Translate to settings. If the button is not visible, simply refresh the page to make it visible.

7.3.1.7. Test Translation Options

Enter a text into this field and click button to test the translation API’s settings you configured. When you click the button, the plugin will ask the API to translate the text you wrote and show you the translation results. You will see the translated text in the test results if the test was successful. Otherwise, the results will show you an error message indicating what is wrong with the settings so that you can fix the problem.
